オバマ大統領への志位書簡に米政府から返書

米国政府の返書全文

　志位委員長の書簡に対する米国政府の返書全文は以下の通りです。

　親愛な志位様

　あなたの四月二十八日付の書簡で、オバマ大統領のプラハ演説についての感想と、どうすれば私たちが最良の方法で核兵器のない世界を実現できるかについての考えを伝えていただきました。大統領は、その書簡に感謝する返書を、大統領に代わってしたためるよう、私に指示しました。

　この問題にたいするあなたの情熱をうれしく思うとともに、私たちは、この目標に向かって具体的な前進をつくりだすために、日本政府との協力を望んでいます。世界の国々が核不拡散条約の強化と、核兵器用の核分裂性物質生産禁止条約交渉の速やかな開始、包括的核実験禁止条約の発効を確約するならば、私たちは認識を変え、核兵器のない世界に向けて新たな機運をつくることができます。

　思慮に富んだあなたの書簡に重ねてお礼を申し上げます。

　　　　President Obama asked me to respond on his beharf and thank you for your letter of April 28 in which you shared your impressions of his speech in Prague and conveyed your views on how we can best achieve a world free of nuclear weapons.

　　　　We appreciate your passion for this issue and look forward to working with the Government of Japan to make concrete progress towards this goal. If countries worldwide make a strong commitment to strengthening the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty, the rapid start of negotiations on a treaty to ban the production of fissile material fou use in nuclear weapons, and to the entry into force of the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty, we can shift perceptions and build new momentum towards a nuclear-weapons free world.
